Dave began practicing yoga in 2001 at a local gym, while looking for a temporary way to stay active after breaking his hand.  While yoga may not have been the best choice for resting a broken bone, Dave did end up finding a true connection with the practice, which has grown to be an integral part of his life years later.

In 2005 Dave decided to begin a new journey, leaving full-time architectural practice to teach yoga, studying with Baron Baptiste.  Dave is now a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, and has continued to work with Baron as an assistant at teacher trainings and international conferences.  Dave has also studied with Seane Corn and with Rusty Wells, and has traveled with Seane as her assistant to trainings and conferences.  He has attended workshops by Ana Forrest, John Friend, and Shiva Rea.

Dave has taught classes and workshops for students and instructors nationally and internationally.  He is the creator of the Power Yoga with Dave Farmar podcast, which has become one of the top-rated fitness podcasts on iTunes.  He has also appeared in Yoga for Travel videos on Frontier Airlines' in-flight entertainment.

In 2007 Dave was chosen to be an Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica, working with Lulu to promote community yoga events, along with providing input on clothing designs and appearing in advertising.  In 2008 Dave's Yoga for Cyclists workout was featured in Bicycling magazine.

"I'm so excited to be part of the yoga community here in Denver, and to be able to reach out and share the amazing benefits of yoga with students everywhere."

A graduate of UCLA, Dave moved to Colorado in the early 1990s to earn a master's degree from CU, and has called the state home ever since.  From snowboarding in the winter to triathlons or mountain bike races in the summer, Dave is always looking to take advantage of all the Rocky Mountains have to offer. International travel is also a passion, including reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2006.  Dave continues work as an architect for selected projects and as a consultant for statewide political campaigns.
